The browser will not function for me. I am running Vista. When I go to the browser the page opens up, the small pages on top with the arrows shows...but nothing functions and I need to close the program. This happend in the lock down mode and I had to do a hard boot. Lost my shutdown for start menu and all the crtl-alt-del functions except for cancel. I figured out how to turn them back on by utilizing gpedit.msc. Any thoughts or ideas? -

Hey dansk1 :)
It sounds like a firewall is blocking the browser?
Opening and exiting Kidrocket again, would have reset everything back to normal. The hard shutdown bypassed the exit functions.
I copy/pasted the instructions below from the download page, its the only reason I've heard of anything like this happening.
What firewall or anti-virus software are you running?
Firewalls and Anti-Virus Software.
* KidRocket is a Web Browser and therefore, will REQUIRE permission from your firewall to access the internet for the web browser feature to work.
* The first time you launch the web browser, you will most likely receive a prompt or popup from your Firewall or Antivirus software?
You will have to answer "Yes" to allow or "Yes" that you trust KidRocket.exe to access the internet, so it will be able to retrieve and display webpages.
* We recommend that you stay in unlocked mode the first time running Kidrocket and the web browser feature, so you can simply minimize the application to answer "Yes" to the prompt, if it happens to popup underneath Kidrocket when launching the web browser.
If that isn't the problem?
I have Vista Ultimate here for testing and will look into it right away.
Thanks,

I get no prompting by my antivirus software(AVAST) or by Microsoft Firewall. I can access the ART, Math, Admin and Exit work from the main screen. Once I click launch and I am in the browser clicking the mouse on anything results in nothing. I need to ctrl-alt-del and close kidrocket this way.
Thanks for your quick response. -

OK, it sounds like something is stopping it at that point?
Couple quick questions...
1. Do you have the small shield on the Kidrocket desktop icon?
2. Do you receive a prompt asking if you trust this program when first launching? (not the browser)
3. What rights does the user account have?
4. Does Avast have any kind of real time application monitoring?
I'm on XP right now, let me boot up Vista in a bit here and look into Vista's firewall blocklist. -

OK, I found a definite bug in Vista.
Its not hanging up on me, its simply goes poof and disappears when I go a bit click crazy on the kidsafe temp page, same at PBS...
Appreciate the report. ;)
My best guess is recent Vista updates are the culprit.
Looking back thru my beta emails, there was something similar reported with Vista SP1, but I couldn't reproduce it then.
Good news is... I've been busy updating pretty much all of the backend code on Kidrocket and my current development version is solid, no signs of this issue.
I think I can have a new version ready for the public in a day or so? Watch for a new release really soon.
If you'd like to test the new one?
Shoot me an email to beta AT kidrocket DOT org
Thanks again,

Hi,
I'm having the exact same issue. I also run Vista (Home), and I have Norton 2007 for Vista. I've allowed KR through my firewall already, and still have the same issue.
I just wanted to let you know that there's more than just this isolated case. :)

Thanks a bunch Tabitha. ;) much appreciated.
I have the new version ready, except for unhooking some debugging code. This browser issue looks like its fixed for sure, just finished more Vista testing.
Still need to do a bit more, to make sure everything is put back together correctly. Pulled 2 3am'ers in a row, time to have some fresh eyeballs take it for a test drive now. :)
I'll update soon... -

Hi,
I just downloaded your latest version of Kidrocket onto my daughter's computer. I'm experiencing a couple of problems. First, I click on the Disney site and it doesn't even load. Second, the Hotwheels site starts to load and then poof, the entire kidrocket screen is gone. Help! I'd really like to have my daughter use this browser.
Thanks,
Glinda (GGS2) -

Hi Glinda :)
It sounds like you're running an old release?
Right click and delete the current version, then go to the download page here and download the latest v1.5.0.205
There should be an "Update" button in Admin also now, to check if you're running the latest release?
If this is a issue with v1.5.0.205?
What version of Windows?
Do you have all the latest windows updates?
Do you have the latest Flash player?
What version of Internet Explorer?
What Firewall?
What Antivirus? -
